BrewDog Canary Wharf combines its signature craft beer obsession with a spacious, all-day hangout just moments from Canary Wharf station. If you're hungry, you can tuck into stacked burgers, punchy wings and classic bar snacks designed to soak up a few pints. 

Beer is, of course, the main event. You can expect a rotating lineup of BrewDog favourites and guest pours, from hazy IPAs to crisp lagers and rich stouts. If you're with a group, the 2.5L beer towers are a no-brainer, while tasting flights let you sample a bit of everything. Not sure where to start? Go for something like the punchy Jack Hammer IPA or an easy-drinking session IPA.

I really like how affordable the drinks are, especially with its 2-4-1 offer on cocktails 

The George is one of the Isle of Dogs' true locals, pouring pints and hosting punters since 1865. This spot keeps things refreshingly traditional, and it's a go-to for sports fans, with Sky Sports and TNT Sports playing across HD screens, making it a solid shout for catching everything from Premier League clashes to midweek fixtures.

Pepper Street Tavern is one of Canary Wharf's more playful pubs. With 16 screens dotted around the venue, you won't miss a second of the action, whether it's football, rugby or whatever big fixture's on. But even when there's no match, this place stays lively thanks to its fully kitted-out games room upstairs. We're talking retro arcade machines, pool tables, table tennis, foosball and smart darts - all ready for a bit of friendly competition.

There are 20 taps pouring everything from crisp lagers to hazy IPAs and ciders, with a rotating lineup that keeps things interesting. Not sure what to go for? The staff are more than happy to point you in the right direction.

• Why I recommend: want a good spot to watch the game with proper food and fast service? I believe this place delivers. I'm also a big fan of the 2-4-1 cocktails every day, and how there's a great variety like pornstar and espresso martinis, plus punchy signatures like the 'Go-Go Juice' or a cherry twist on a Long Island iced tea

Director's Box is a go-to for sports fans in Canary Wharf, pulling in lively crowds with wall-to-wall coverage of major matches on Sky and BT Sport. With screens everywhere you look, there's no bad seat in the house, which explains why it fills up fast on big game days.

An open kitchen adds to the atmosphere, with the smell of burgers, wings and bar snacks drifting through the space. To drink, you can look forward to familiar lagers like Birra Moretti, Camden Hells and Beavertown Neck Oil on tap, plus cask ales, ciders and alcohol-free options.

• Why I recommend: I feel like The Henry Addington strikes that perfect balance between polished and pubby. You've got great views, a solid drinks list and a relaxed atmosphere that works just as well for casual pints as it does for date nights or catch-ups. I love the fact it's dog-friendly, so you can bring your pup along for a drink too 

The Henry Addington is one of the top go-to pubs Canary Wharf has to offer when you want a bit of scenery with your pint. Just a short stroll from the station, this waterside spot pairs classic British charm with one seriously good terrace. Named after former Prime Minister Henry Addington, the pub leans into its heritage with a traditional feel throughout, from its warm interiors to a strong focus on cask ales and proper pub fare. 

Beer lovers can expect well-kept cask ales alongside craft options like Beavertown's Gamma Ray, while the cocktail list covers all the classics. The real draw, though, is that outdoor space. Overlooking the water with views across Canary Wharf, it's tailor-made for after-work drinks in the sun or a laid-back weekend drink.

• Why I recommend: I'm a fan of this Fuller's pub because of both its location and how cosy it feels inside. You'll find maroon coloured walls, fireplaces and pendant light fixtures, as well as fun outside booths with heaters for when it gets cold in the summer. The dining space feels like a modern British brasserie with its sleek table cloths, and I think the gin selection here is second to none 

The Gun is a completely refurbished pub from the early 19th century in a Grade II-listed building. Located on the banks of the River Thames, it offers beautiful views of the Thames and The O2, and a tranquil pub garden featuring potted plants and benches - it's a real gem of a place to enjoy a lager.

Drinks-wise, you can expect a selection of beers on tap, wines, and gins, as well as classic cocktails such as Aperol spritzes. The strictly British menu serves seasonal dishes for lunch and dinner every day of the week, like slow-braised beef cheek or butter-poached chicken. If you're looking for pubs in Canary Wharf with a view, then this is the place to be, especially when it's warm enough to enjoy a pre-dinner drink outside.

Set among Canary Wharf's glossy skyscrapers, The Ledger Building is proof that you don't have to spend a fortune to grab a pint in the financial district. Housed in a striking early 19th-century docklands building, it once stored the records of the West India Docks, and today, it's storing something arguably just as valuable: reliably cheap beer.

As a Wetherspoons, it ticks all the boxes you'd expect (patterned carpets, a sprawling menu of all-day pub grub, and well-priced drinks). But what elevates it is the setting. High ceilings and a sense of faded grandeur give it a scale that feels worlds away from your average budget boozer. Outside, you'll find its biggest draw: a terrace overlooking the water at West India Quay, where you can gather with your mates for after-work pints with a view.

• Why I recommend: I really love the fact that there's a strong community vibe here, with a long-running Monday night pub quiz that draws a loyal crowd. You can't book ahead, which might mean a bit of a wait, but that's all part of the charm

The Grapes is a true East London gem, tucked away along the Thames in Limehouse, just a short wander from Canary Wharf. With over 500 years of history behind it, this place has a serious pedigree. Literary legend Charles Dickens was once a regular, even featuring it in Our Mutual Friend, while today it's partly owned by Ian McKellen, which explains the subtle theatrical flair running through the place.

Inside, it's all low ceilings, dark wood and cosy corners, while outside, the riverside terrace is the real star. Overlooking the Thames, it's perfect for a pint at sunset or a long, lazy lunch by the water. To eat, you can expect proper pub staples like fish and chips, shepherd's pie and hearty stews, alongside smaller plates such as calamari, halloumi sticks and king prawns if you're just grazing.
